When we speak about the "level of danger", we are referring to a situation where the girl is likely to depart from the regular life's cycle and fall into a whirlpool of depression, self-destruction, usage of addictive drugs, sexual abuse, negative connections with unreliable groups and even minorities. Although youngsters who live amongst a weaker population are more exposed to the situations of danger from the start, also youngsters who come from "normal" families are exposed to these situations – more than we would like to believe. Don't illusion yourself – we are talking briefly but the numbers are much higher than what you thought.
According to the statistics of the Board for Welfare of the Child, a third of the children and teenagers in Israel live under the line of poverty – an increase of 45% in the last five years.
The teenagers' department at the Israeli police report that the percentage of participation of young immigrants in crime is 25% of the total youth crime – double the proportion of the population.
Even teenagers who live in established homes with supporting families experience at times social difficulties and confusion and they are also exposed to different dangers – physical and mental. Often these young girls feel they have no one to speak to, there's no one available for them. The way from there to descent is likely to be very short.
The bottom line is, the message we would like to pass on that it is possible to compete with this situation and preferably before the downfall, before the deterioration, without scars and depressions!
The belief that leads us is that it is possible to save – and this depends on each one of us!
