We pondered a long time to find a solution to the problem plus we consulted with rabbonim and professionals in the field.
After much studying and consultation, we came to the conclusion, that in such a serious illness, where there is almost no cure, we must activate "a preventing remedy". And indeed we managed to bring a cure to the problem by setting up the network of seminars "hashivenu".
"Hashivenu" operates in the communities of risk around the country.
By being present in the area and knowing the problems from close up, hashivenu identifies the special requirements and provides solutions to the problems and requirements, initiating projects which are a suitable answer to the problems and an acquisition for the girls, tools and skills for a normal life, with the help of special projects, whose purpose is to strengthen and develop the potential and personal awareness of the girls and through this to prevent their exposure to risk. Hashivenu employs a varied staff of professional workers, on surface duty, planning, development and guidance, who do holy work every day, with total devotion.
How do we locate the girls?
The organization of hashivenu focuses its activities to areas where the level of danger to the girls is relatively high. In this way every girl who is absorbed into the seminar, can be called a rescue! The girls come to the seminar due to solid activities in the area, which in place of need is done under disguise.
The organization also operates an array of advertisements which let the public know about the different activities, trips and parties that the seminars are having. And of course, the most effective tool – friend brings a friend – the girls of the seminar encourage their friends to participate in the family of hashivenu, and in this way, expand the range of girls who participate in the activities.
What is the seminar?
"Seminar which is home"
By investigating the situation of many girls, we found, that because of the empty space in their world they are looking to fill up the gap in foreign fields.
The idea of the seminar was created and designed to provide a response for the lack that those girls have.
The main point of the seminar is a home mother – the "second mother" – as the girls put it; the home mother forms a deep relationship with the girls and serves the girls as a mature friend in
whom they can trust and be helped by at every stage.
Age of the girls – unmarried girls between 17-25
Days and hours of activities: Sunday – Thursday 7.00 in the evening until 11.00 at night plus special activities on Shabbosos.
What is done in the seminar:
Social time in a homely warm atmosphere:
The girls are offered a home-made supper and rich refreshments, music, library with plenty of books of various educational and ethical subjects, D.V.D to watch enriching programs and lectures.
Study:
In the seminar there are workshops and educational series in a range of subjects, for forming and building-up the personality of the girls. Lectures in Judaism for enriching their knowledge, hashkafa lessons, mussar and jewish principles.
Donation to the community:
In participation with chessed organizations, the girls are harnessed to donate from themselves to the community in various areas.
Parties and outings:
Every month the seminar organizes gatherings on special dates, interesting and fascinating social evenings in a wonderful atmosphere, trips to pray at the graves of Zaddikim and holy sites and team outings.
Our brides:
As part of the support, is the participation and help in all issues of the wedding. The seminar arranges engagement parties and sheva berachos for our brides, with glory and splendor and in a family atmosphere.
